Those Offering Envelopes
Exodus 35: 20-29
And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the Lord's offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.”
Giving to the Lord’s work has never been easier. We can do it with the click of a button or with an automated giving system that automatically drafts our accounts or credit cards. Praise God for technology that speeds money on its way to the Lord’s work.
There’s just one thing. Some folks remember watching their parents sit at the kitchen table and write a check for their tithes and offering. Some recall watching their dad or mom put their offering envelope in the plate on Sunday morning. Millions learned to give by the example of their parents.
The days of checks and envelopes and offering plates isn’t quite gone. But regardless of how you give, let your children and grandchildren know you are giving. Make them part of the process. Teach them by example the joy of being a partner in funding the Lord’s work in your church and around the world.
A point to ponder…
I learned to tithe by observing my parents prepare their offering envelope. I developed a love for missions by watching my mom put her loose change in container in anticipation of our annual foreign missions offering.
